Sludge line for waste water treatment plant in Vrbas, Serbia

Location: Vrbas, Serbia

End-user: Vrbas-Kula Municipality, Serbia

Fluids: Water, Sludge

Start-up date: 2020

The Central Wastewater Treatment Plant in Vrbas, which also serves the municipalities of Kula and Crvenka, includes a sludge line as part of its operations. This sludge line is crucial for the anaerobic stabilization of sludge.

Main Objectives

  1. Electrical Installation and System for Sludge Line:
    • Complete electrical installation with both local and remote automation.
    • Control and supervision of key processes: sludge thickening, anaerobic digestion, gas production, and sludge dewatering and disposal to landfill.
  2. SCADA System for Local and Remote Control:
    • Local and remote measurement of multiple processes.
    • Distributed control system architecture and management.
    • Historical logging of relevant values with trend analysis.
  3. Connection to Existing Water Line:
    • Integration with the existing water line at the plant, established during the first phase of the project.
  4. Implementation of Modern Equipment and Standards:
    • Adoption of modern equipment, functionalities, and adherence to industry standards.

Equipment and Instrumentation

  • Control of the Sludge Line requires precise measurement of various process values, including flow, pressure, temperature, and pH levels.
  • Krohne equipment is predominantly used for these measurements. Key instruments include:
    • Optiflux 4000F: For flow measurement.
    • Optisense 8300 (+ Mac 100): For pH measurement.
    • Optitemp TRA-S11 (+ TT30C): For temperature measurement.
    • Optisonic 7000 (+ GFC300C): For ultrasonic flow measurement.
    • Optibar 5060C: For pressure measurement.
  • Distributed control system architecture and management
